The first thing we see Jesus do as an adult in Matthew’s Gospel is to come before his Father and be baptised. There seems to be something foundational about making a public statement of our faith and devotion to God. It’s a time when we are open to being filled with His Spirit. As we continue to look at Matthew this weekend, let us be open to listening to God’s Spirit. Let us continue to seek His will for our community in Bedhampton. I pray that we might all hear the words; This is my son/daughter whom I love, with them I am well pleased.
